  • Security: Who is allowed to pick up your child, and what is the verification process?
  • Communication: Will they send you a photo at noon without you having to beg, or is there a communication log for the day?

Finding the Right Fit

Walk the space. Clean floors are essential, but genuine warmth matters more. Watch the caregivers’ faces when a baby cries; do you see frustration or a reflex to comfort? A creche can be modest and still be excellent—our standard should not be aesthetic, it should be tenderness held together by structure.

Be honest about the practicalities. Lagos traffic at 6:45 AM is a real cost, and fees that quietly rise every term can cause unnecessary strain. Sometimes, a creche that is slightly further away but run by a kind owner who knows your baby’s name is worth far more than the one with the fanciest gate in the neighborhood.
